A new boutique hotel and private villa concept opens its doors in the heart of Bali"s Jimbaran, giving travellers the opportunity to enjoy the intimacy of luxury villa accommodation with the service of a five-star hotel.

A celebration of rich Indonesian history, The Longhouse is thoughtfully inspired by authentic Balinese culture. Elegantly perched in the hills of Jimbaran, originally a tiny fishing village and market, The Longhouse is a departure from typical Bali hotel and villa offerings; meticulously curated by its owners with the help of renowned architect Popo Danes to reflect their love of the island, the property has been developed and programmed for guests wanting to discover the lesser known side of Bali. By fusing its stunning scenery with impeccable attention to detail, The Longhouse creates an idyllic escape away from the tourist traps of Seminyak and Kuta.

The expansive property, built in 2009, has completed an extensive renovation to offer just six exclusive bedroom suites with breathtaking views over the treetops of Jimbaran. Each stylish suite is named after an Indonesian island, with distinctive interior designs and local arts handpicked by the owners from their extensive travels across the region. No two suites are the same, providing an entirely unique boutique hotel experience.

The Bali Suite is the perfect combination of rustic charm and modern convenience, where the majority of luxury furniture has been crafted from Bamboo. With a private study, courtyard garden, and private plunge pool, it provides a tropical oasis for guests wanting to decompress.

The Lombok Suite is bathed in soft earth tones like the Sasak Pottery for which the island is famous. This spacious suite is a world unto itself with a with a luxurious bathroom featuring both indoor and outdoor showers and bathtubs, and double stone basins. From the brass motif on the door, to the welcoming Urat mask, there are touches of Lombok throughout the room. A private terrace and day bed provides the ideal view of The Longhouse gardens and distant landscape.

The Sumatra Suite is evocative of the lush forests and verdant jungle of Indonesia"s largest island – full of warm wood and tropical green. It"s most outstanding feature is the beautiful indoor/outdoor bathroom, the interior of which is dramatically designed with black volcanic stone and wood accented by a copper sink, and the outdoor portion is a huge stone bathtub set in jungle filled greenery and orchids.

The Sumba Suite pays tribute to the people of Sumba, who have perfected the art of Ikat tapestry to an exceptionally high standard. An excellent example of Sumba Ikat forms a centre piece of the queen size canopy bed with its posts of twisted vine. The Sumba bathroom is made almost completely of pale gold onyx stone using both rough and smooth surfaces. The suite boasts a private outdoor bale, complete with daybed for guests to relax on.

Named after Indonesia"s most populous island, the East and West Java Suites are accessible via the Java Hall, featuring specific batik motifs illustrated as a carving on the doors. The Java Rooms contain two super single beds that can be joined together for a Queen size bed. A long desk creates a convenient space to write and the sliding glass doors lead directly out to the garden and the charming pergola. The private terrace is perfectly positioned to enjoy the stunning view beyond.

With more than one staff per guest ratio at The Longhouse, the team of experienced professionals have been handpicked from some of the world"s most prestigious hotels to ensure a holistic hospitality experience, and are on hand around the clock to cater to all guest needs. As a dedicated team, they offer a spectrum of guest services - from cooking courses in Indonesian cuisine, to local village tours, Balinese massages in the in-house spa and mixology sessions.

Offering amenities and facilities beyond that of any luxury villa, a home theatre with a selection of movies is available for guests to unwind in, a hilltop bale offers a tranquil morning yoga spot or a picturesque setting for sunset cocktails, a vast infinity pool with open air lounge is a laidback social area for guests to relax, have a drink at the bar or unwind with a book, and a stunning private lawn works as a beautiful space for celebrating special events.
