Kinseth Hospitality Companies is pleased to announce the official ground breaking of the Courtyard by Marriott Sioux City, Iowa took place on June 6, 2018. The groundbreaking ceremony took place at the construction site of the Courtyard by Marriott located at 901 4th Street. Speakers Bruce Kinseth, Vice President of Kinseth Hospitality Companies; Dan Moore, Sioux City Mayor Pro-Tem; Dennis Johnson, President of Downtown Partners; and Rick Lecy, General Manager of Sioux City Convention Center and Courtyard by Marriott, shared their excitement about the new hotel and renovations of the Convention Center. The new full-service hotel will offer 151 rooms and be developed and operated by Kinseth.

Bruce Kinseth, Vice President of Kinseth Hospitality, opened the event and said, "The Kinseth family is excited to bring this incredible addition to the Sioux City community, as well as further advance the position of the existing Sioux City Convention Center throughout the state of Iowa and the greater Midwest."

"The City is committed to enhancing the marketing and management efficiencies of the Convention Center," said Dan Moore, Mayor Pro-Tem. "These improvements will keep us in the top tier of regional destinations, and new events and revenue will benefit downtown and all of our community."

Improvements to the Convention Center will include the addition of a new versatile "pre-function" space to connect the existing facility to the new hotel, a new ballroom, additional restrooms and a parking ramp. The project will bring increased activity to the Historic Fourth Street entertainment district. Located in downtown Sioux City just north of Business Highway 20 and Interstate 29, the new Courtyard by Marriott and the renovated Sioux City Convention Center will provide its guests easy and quick access to I-29, surrounding restaurants, shopping centers, museums and local attractions.

Upwards of 125 guests were in attendance of the groundbreaking and were able to learn more about the project, see floorplans, take home information about the hotel as well as enjoy hors d'oeuvres and beverages.

Initial site work is already underway for the project, and required the temporary closure of 4th Street, which is scheduled to reopen by June 30. Construction of the Convention Center renovations and new parking deck are expected to begin in late July 2018 and be completed in August 2019. Construction has been scheduled to allow most events to take place as planned.
