Rockbridge is pleased to announce today's opening of The Alida in Savannah, Georgia. The 173-room hotel is positioned along the historic Savannah River Street in the warehouse district. Bordered by breweries, distilleries and some of the city's best shopping, The Alida offers three restaurant and bar concepts, including a rooftop bar; Keep Shop, a signature retail concept; a year-round, heated and chilled salt water pool; and a design aesthetic highlighted by oversized windows.

Rockbridge's vision has been focused on building a comfortable and hospitable destination through The Alida, filled with thoughtful design elements and creative programming intended to entertain and engage guests and locals alike. To bring this special property to life, Rockbridge enlisted partner and collaborator Makeready to help with the concept, design and operation. Makeready is a hospitality brand that creates independent concept brands through local influences, functional design, and thoughtful restaurants and
bars in such past projects as The Adolphus in Dallas and Noelle in Nashville, Tenn. Every Makeready brand embraces local culture, honors past and present, and invites curious guests to delve into the details of their surroundings.

The Alida will embody the warmth and hospitality of its namesake, Alida Harper Fowlkes. A savvy, self- made woman who opened up her home to weary travelers, Alida truly defined what hospitality meant to the city of Savannah. She had an incredible impact on Savannah's architectural traditions, art curation and historic preservation. To that extent, the hotel serves as the gregarious host welcoming visiting guests into Savannah's warm embrace while providing locals with a comfortable place to ideate and imbibe. It is nostalgic and graceful, industrial yet curated, curious and always custom - offering a distinct design perspective and unique representation of local artists, makers and thinkers.

The welcome experience at The Alida invites guests into an open space with ample comfortable seating and natural light from floor-to-ceiling windows. Keep Shop, a Makeready signature, presents a retail experience featuring a unique array of elevated essentials and artisan goods inspired by many local makers and is integrated into the lobby space. Accessible from the lobby floor is year-round, chilled & heated saltwater outdoor pool, complete with rentable cabanas and deck service for small plates and cocktails.

The hotel is home to three on-site restaurant and bar concepts, helmed by Chef William Quinn, who previously ran the kitchen at Stephen Starr's Parc in Philadelphia, while the cocktail program is overseen by mixologist Scott Baird of San Francisco's Trick Dog. The concepts include Rhett, a ground floor all-day classic American kitchen serving quintessential Southern fare in a relaxed setting, The Trade Room, a bar featuring local brews and spirits in an industrial chic setting, and The Lost Square, an outdoor living room located atop the hotel and Savannah's newest best kept secret. The in-room dining menu will come from Rhett and will be an extension of the restaurant, for guests who wish to enjoy breakfast, lunch, dinner or late-night dining in-room.

Rockbridge and Makeready entrusted New York City-based Parts and Labor Design to design the public spaces which contrast raw, industrial materials with splashes of Southern flair and hospitality, and FODA (Mandarin Oriental New York and Washington, D.C., Dollywood DreamMore Resort) to design the 173 guest rooms within the hotel. With 12 different all king-bed room categories, including one 2-Bedroom Penthouse Suite, offering layouts suited for business and leisure travelers alike, guest rooms feature oversized windows with views of the Savannah River or the neighborhood with welcoming reading benches, purposeful built-in shelving and hideaway tables and beds adorned with Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD) designed pillows.

In addition to SCAD, which will also be partnering with the hotel to offer creative programming and delightful surprises for guests, The Alida will work with Savannah-based Service Brewing Company, Ghost Coast Distillery, Old Savannah Tours and the Alida Harper House to offer guests experiences they couldn't get anywhere else. From rooftop art classes to exclusive beer flights, regularly scheduled programming and ongoing partnerships seek to tie together the local community and offer out-of-towners a peek behind the curtains of Savannah's true sensibility.

Additional amenities include Makeready's signature "The Nook" complimentary water stations on each guest floor, offering still and sparkling water at all hours as well as fresh fruit and periodicals, a 24/7 fitness center, in-room signature 10-minute Coffee program, complimentary WiFi, and valet service. The hotel is also pet friendly - guests can expect a few treats for Fido as well.

In addition to the property itself, a new sweeping brick staircase has also been constructed to allow much needed access to the start of River Street for visitors. More than 10,000 shoppers, diners and sightseers currently get on River Street by steep, iron stairs further down the walk; the new Alida stairs will provide a safe and comfortable stroll to the restaurants, bars and shops. The beautiful brick stairs are complemented by floral landscaping that welcomes guests to the waterfront.
