SEN Inc. will open a zen-themed design capsule hotel "hotel zen tokyo" in Tokyo in early Spring 2019. Guests can start making reservations starting November 5th on its official website.

hotel zen tokyo is located a mere 30 second walk away from Ningyocho station, a popular and practical station in Tokyo with direct metro access to the city's two airports and major tourism landmarks. The hotel is seven floors big with two entire floors of common room and facilities, including a study & work lounge, cafe bar and coin laundry room.

hotel zen tokyo was founded by Japanese architect Taro Kagami with a mission to provide an accessible and authentic Japanese hotel experience. Kagami, whose architecture expertise is in zen minimalism design, crafted hotel zen tokyo's guest experience with zen wabisabi principles in mind. Guests staying at hotel zen tokyo can enjoy a fusion of modern, efficient capsule hotel format and authentic design.

While hotel zen tokyo is a capsule hotel by definition, its pods (capsule-type unit) are more spacious than regular capsule hotels, with each pod reaching the ceiling at a height of 2.2 meters.

There are 78 pods total spread out across five floors, with up to two floors dedicated to female guests. Pods come in five types, with varying bed (either single or semi-double western-style beds) and room sizes. All rooms come with free wi-fi, safe for valuables, outlets, reading light, and clothing hangers. Guests are given keys to lockers located on the same floor to store bigger luggage.

Guests also have access to over 300 square meters – over 30% of the entire hotel property – of common area and facilities, including a study lounge, laundry room, and a cafe bar.

The cafe bar will serve breakfast for guests in the morning and turns into a Japanese-style cafe during the day, and a live music bar at night. Menu includes local lunch items and traditional sweets during the day, with an addition of local craft beers, liquor, and a collection of sake at night. At the center of the cafe bar is a steel teahouse on display, which turns into a music stage at night for live music.
