Hilton (NYSE: HLT) has signed a management agreement with KIT 2016 LLC to open Hilton Garden Inn Tbilisi Riverside in Georgia's capital.

Hilton Garden Inn Tbilisi Riverside will be situated on the banks of the Kura River, close to two of the city's universities, political ministries and a number of large corporate offices. The hotel will include 161 guestrooms, some of which will overlook the river, a bar and restaurant, as well as a fitness centre and two meeting rooms.

Georgia is an increasingly popular international tourist destination. Visitor numbers from neighbouring countries are on the rise, while the latest figures show that visitor numbers from Western Europe markets grew considerably in 2017. Drawn by Tbilisi's striking scenery, vibrant nightlife and rich variety of historical landmarks, visitors are flocking to the city.

Gega Berinidze, KIT 2016 LLC director, said: "This is our first hotel development and we are proud to be working with Hilton on our debut hospitality project. Tbilisi is in an exciting phase of growth, with record numbers of visitors travelling to the city. In partnership with Hilton, we cannot wait to open Hilton Garden Inn Tbilisi Riverside - draw further visitors to Tbilisi and help establish the city as the Caucasus's foremost destination."

Hilton is present in more than 30 European capitals and the opening of Hilton Garden Inn Tbilisi Riverside is part of Hilton's strategy of expanding into prime cities across the continent. The hotel joins pipeline Hilton properties Hilton Tbilisi and Hilton Garden Inn Tbilisi Chavchavadze, which are due to open in the capital in 2019 and 2020 respectively.

Hilton Garden Inn Tbilisi Riverside will be located at 17 Ialbuzi Street, in the vicinity of the city's Old Town and 15 km from Tbilisi Airport.
