The Madison Washington D.C., a Hilton Hotel announces the completion of its highly anticipated, $4 million hotel transformation inspired by Dolley Madison's legacy and trailblazing spirit. The iconic 356-room hotel, located in the heart of downtown Washington, D.C., just four blocks from the White House, transformed its lobby and adjacent common areas and introduced Lady M, an upscale cocktail lounge, an exclusive executive lounge and a grab-and-go marketplace.

Conceptualized by The Gettys Group, this newly debuted design merges traditional elements with modern textures and soft color schemes, resulting in a space that celebrates the dynamic duality of James and Dolley Madison. From the furnishings to the finishes, each piece plays a part in connecting guests to the legacy of the building, its location in the nation's capital, and the characters of James and Dolley Madison themselves.

A feature wall mirrors the crackling of a painting, a nod to the works the first lady saved in White House fire, while a custom glass partition features the pattern found on Dolley's fine china. A personalized statement mirror displays parrot and ice cream cone iconography, recalling Dolley's beloved pet and James' favorite dessert.

Lobby

The Madison's remastered lobby features contemporary lighting fixtures, plush seating, distinctive artwork and subtle accents inspired by Dolley Madison's refurbishment of the White House in 1801. The lobby is reminiscent of the Madison's living room where guests of the first family socialized regularly. The hotel lobby serves as a new social space where travelers and locals alike can gather, relax and relish in the delectable new food and beverage offerings.

Dolley Madison's gatherings were famed for tantalizing food, fashion and liberating libations. Each week, bartenders mixed colorful concoctions while guests made exciting new social connections. It was a time of spirited hospitality and joie de vivre. Dolley Madison's namesake lobby lounge, Lady M, is inspired by the dazzling living room of the Madison White House era. The lounge is a swanky gathering place situated adjacent to the hotel lobby, offering a one-of-a-kind bourbon library curated from small batch local distilleries.  Lady M features farm-to-table small plates, signature cocktails, rotating craft beer handles and a unique bourbon tasting experience available as pours and flights.

The Marketplace

The Marketplace is an upscale grab-and-go market featuring daily fresh and flavorful specialties available for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The market was designed to provide modern, busy travelers with a wealth of options on the go. The hotel's one-stop-shop offers a hot breakfast, fresh salads, gourmet sandwiches, an assortment of snacks, freshly baked pastries, Starbucks® coffee, wine, beer and much more.

Renowned since its opening, The Madison has long set the stage for countless distinguished guests. From Frank Sinatra to the Dalai Lama and nearly every president since Kennedy, the hotel, named after James and Dolley Madison, combines class and comfort, providing exceptional service and unique guest experiences. Built in 1963 by philanthropist, art collector, history buff and developer Marshall B. Coyne, the hotel redefined luxury in Washington as Coyne filled the hotel with his personal collection of antiques to set the tone and ambiance for visiting travelers.
