The IntercityHotel Hannover Hauptbahnhof Ost is currently taking shape at the heart of Hanover. It will be the second hotel to be operated by the brand at this particular location. Today, just under a year after the formal laying of the foundation stone, about 300 guests and construction workers joined Mayor Stefan Schostok at Andreas Hermes Square to stage a topping-out ceremony.

The shell of the planned IntercityHotel, which will be 54 metres tall and comprise 15 storeys, has been erected at great speed over the past weeks and months. 220 rooms and restaurant and conference areas are being developed behind the building's impressive 5-cornered and colourful ceramic façade.

In accordance with brand standards, the property is situated in a central location as usual. Its site on the eastern side of the city's main railway station offers excellent transport links. As is the case with all IntercityHotels, a "FreeCityTicket" is included in the price of overnight accommodation. This entitles guests to use local public transport free of charge.

The hotel will occupy the upper mid-scale segment and will boast 220 rooms and five conference rooms. A modern interior design scheme by the Italian architect Matteo Thun will deliver bright generously proportioned spaces and a real feel-good atmosphere. The new hotel will complement an existing IntercityHotel located on the South-West side of Hanover's main railway station, which opened in 2009. It will be operated via a lease agreement. The contractual partner is the property company bauwo Grundstücksgesellschaft. The hotel is scheduled to open in the first quarter of 2020.
