Hilton Garden Inn Mannheim — Photo by Hilton

Today Hilton Garden Inn Mannheim will welcome its very first guests. With 195 spacious and comfortable rooms and two suites, the hotel on Willy-Brandt-Platz next to Mannheim's ICE train station is the latest German hotel in the steadily growing Hilton Garden Inn portfolio, one of Hilton's (NYSE: HLT) 17 world-leading hotel brands.

The Hilton Garden Inn Mannheim has an impressive exterior. The splendid main portal of what was once a building of the Reichspost (national postal service), dating back to around 1900, has been incorporated into the impressive façade. Guests pass through it into the stylishly designed lobby. Besides WLAN in every room, business clients can avail themselves of a high-tech seminar area, with two purpose-built creative rooms for optimal work outcomes. Depending on the room, the upper floors of the 13-story hotel tower afford the guest a fantastic panoramic view across the Rhine-Neckar Delta.

Besides a restaurant with an open kitchen where the hotel pampers its guests with rich breakfasts, "Mister Postman - Bar & Grill" opens in the evenings to serve delicious grill specialties and selected drinks. The Hilton Garden Inn minimarket in the lobby, The Shop®, offers snacks and fresh beverages throughout the day. An in-house fitness area and the elaborately designed green leafy yard provides an environment in which guests can relax any time of the year. "What makes our hotel so unique is the fact that it is an art hotel," said Spiriadis. This has been achieved by working with the Mannheim artist Christian Borth and the Prince House Gallery to put together a body of photographic work entitled "MannheimConnected," exclusive to Hilton Garden Inn Mannheim. The artwork weaves a thematic thread throughout the premises.

The hotel is ideally situated for business clients and tourists arriving by car (in-house underground parking available) but is equally convenient for Deutsche Bahn passengers, being just 30 minutes away from Frankfurt airport and Stuttgart by train. Downtown Mannheim, one of Europe's largest palaces, the historic water tower, the Rosengarten concert/congress center built in the Art Nouveau style and the Kunsthalle (art gallery) are all just a few minutes' walk away. "Planken," Mannheim's extensive pedestrian zone, invites visitors to stroll at their leisure through its wealth of retail and relaxing places. The SAP Arena is within easy reach by streetcar. Good places to go for a day trip are the historical towns of Heidelberg and Speyer or the famous baroque garden of Schwetzingen Palace. These can all be reached within a maximum of 15 to 30 minutes by train.
