German hotel group H-Hotels is set to open a double-branded property at Leipzig central station later this year. Budget brand H2 and the upscale Hyperion Hotels are both scheduled to launch in early December 2019. The openings are part of the redesign of the station's east side, which is being overseen by architecture firm Gerber Architekten.

The Hyperion Leipzig will have 193 rooms, including two 35 sqm suites and six junior suites. It will have a bar, restaurant, spa, gym and a sixth-floor executive lounge with views over the city. A conference hall and eight meeting rooms will cater to the business travel market. The 337-room H2 Hotel will be a more budget offering, with both double and four-bed options. A 24-hour lobby "Hub" will offer a shop as well as fresh meals. There will also be two conference rooms on the ground floor.

"The special thing about both hotels is the dual-brand concept, and consequently the interconnected construction style," said H-Hotels CEO Alexander Fitz.

"This means it is necessary to have just one back-of-the-house area, which will include the offices and kitchen.

"Conference participants, for example, can book rooms in different price categories and personnel can be deployed flexibly. This concept allows us to work more efficiently and offer our guests the amenities of two different products."

Leipzig currently has two H-Hotels properties, under its four-star H+ and H4 brands.

The group says it targets "attractive locations in German-speaking countries".
