The MC hotel is managed by Aparium Hotel Group, making this the group's entrance into the East Coast, bringing their signature destination driven hospitality to the market. The 159-room, 120,000 square-foot ground-up development joins the Marriott Autograph Collection portfolio, celebrating and championing the energetic and lively neighborhood of downtown Montclair - located just 45 minutes via car outside of New York City. On-site hospitality assets in the hotel feature a full conference and social event space on the entire second floor; and Allegory, a full-service lobby restaurant, and Alto, a ninth floor indoor/outdoor rooftop bar and lounge, both overseen by Executive Chef Daniel Kill.

Located at the corner of Bloomfield Avenue and Orange Road, The MC Hotel is purposely designed as a local gathering point. This dynamic intersection of town is centrally located for both out of town visitors and locals, placing them at the center of Downtown Montclair. The hotel is one block away from the Montclair Art Museum which opened in 1914, and a short walk to Montclair's vibrant dining, shopping and entertainment scene, including the historic Wellmont Theater, a 2,700 person venue opened in 1922. The ninth-floor rooftop features sweeping views of New Jersey's foliage to the west and an uninterrupted view of the Manhattan skyline to the east. Just a five minute drive from the Walnut and Bay Street New Jersey Transit stations, the hotel offers easy access to New York City via the Montclair-Boonton Line to Penn Station in just over 30 minutes.

Concepted by internationally acclaimed Dash Design's David Ashen, The MC Hotel's public spaces are designed to emulate a gallery space, showcasing the hotel's local and nationally curated art collection. In the lobby, artistic expression is around every corner with art installations and paintings representing the diversity of the community. Décor elements throughout the hotel call attention to an eclectic style that is representative of the mix of cultures found in Montclair. The guest rooms are a retreat from the bustling township, featuring warm tones and beautiful art prints invoking a restful calm and reflecting the colors found in the natural surroundings of First Watchung Mountain to the west of the hotel. Out of the 18 total suites, the standout category is the one-bedroom suites built into the hotel's rotunda, which have curved glass exterior walls and offer sweeping views up and over into the hills and parks of Montclair. King beds face the windows, with a separate sitting area featuring a sleeper sofa and wet bar offering a spacious extension to the suite.

The art program at The MC Hotel is entirely inspired by Montclair's artistic roots. The lobby features a 30-foot black and white mural inspired by the local flora and fauna by world famous illustrators Ruben and Isabelle Toledo. Each elevator landing of the hotel features 6-foot by 6-foot paintings of Montclair's surroundings done in the style of ancient Indian miniatures by well-known Montclair artist Siona Benjamin. Guest rooms showcase a collection of prints by local artists, hung gallery style above the beds and the Lobby Marketplace offers a series of postcard art by Studio Montclair, 430 artists strong, initially including Rachael Grochowski, RM Cimini, and Susanna Baker, with others to follow on a regular basis.

Aparium's signature "translocal" approach led the team to tap into the local creative community of Montclair, helping to bring the town's spirit into the heart of The MC Hotel. A rotating calendar of wellness, music, art, food and beverage pop-ups features lessons on cupping (the art of tasting coffee) led by the hotel's specially trained staff, wine tastings, chocolatier experiences, Wednesday evening art tours throughout the hotel and more. The hotel supports entrepreneurs of all ages, such as Rose & Co. Candlemakers helmed by 12-year old Rose Powell whose candles will be showcased at the hotel. In rooms, guests will find bath and body products for purchase from local handmade purveyor DollyMoo, as well as pressed juices and juice cleanses from local partner Juice Basin. The hotel is also dog-friendly, welcoming pups under 50 pounds for a nominal pet fee.

The MC Hotel has partnered with a music curator to add a customized soundtrack to its common spaces. In the lounge and bar areas guests will hear a range of genres from jazz fusion to house. The hotel lobby will play relaxed acoustic music while rooftop bar and lounge, Alto, will have diverse, upbeat music for all ages. The MC Hotel will offer entertainment opportunities to local New Jersey and New York City bands, guest DJs, and artists, while programming includes jazz brunches featuring local acts such as Gail Campbell and Thieves & Poets.

Allegory, the full-service dining concept at The MC Hotel, is a 95-seat restaurant under the helm of Executive Chef Daniel Kill, who honed his culinary skills in Bavaria and New York City. Featuring a New American menu with global influence, guests can enjoy community dining with a focus on shared plates. Chef Daniel's dishes place a heavy emphasis on seasonality, featuring produce and ingredients sourced from local farms and purveyors. Hand-crafted cocktails and wines from carefully selected vintners are at the forefront of The MC Hotel's beverage program, which also taps local brew brands such as New Jersey Beer Co. and Montclair Brewery. The restaurant serves a daily breakfast, lunch and dinner as well as a weekend brunch. The ground-floor, outdoor rotunda will offer limited alfresco seating, which is dog friendly and features a special menu for furry friends.

In addition to the restaurant, the hotel features a 40-seat Lobby Bar on the first-floor offering hotel guests and locals an all-day space to lounge and linger while enjoying drinks, coffee, fresh juices and bites from The Marketplace - a convenient and casual venue to enjoy homemade wraps, salads, sandwiches and granola as well as baked goods from the town favorite Le French Dad Bakery. The Marketplace coffee counter boasts a Slayer Espresso Machine and will brew Great Notch Coffee, a local Newark, New Jersey brand who roasts a special coffee blend for the hotel.

Alto, opening in September 2019, is a 106-seat rooftop bar and lounge featuring lighter fare with a hand-crafted cocktail program to complement. Signature drinks will include the When Harry Met Celery, made with cachaça, aquavit, coconut, lime and celery, and the Goodfella, made with whiskey, lemon, orange and Amaro Ciociaro. The 3,600 square-foot space is complemented with outdoor space and seating, allowing for all-weather access, while the outdoor rotunda features a cozy fire pit surrounded by lounge seating overlooking the First Watchung Mountain and the township—and in the distance, the Manhattan skyline. The bar will serve local beers on tap, as well as a New Jersey made kombucha, Mombucha. Alto will operate Sunday through Wednesday 4:00 PM to 12:00 AM with extended hours on Friday and Saturday evenings closing at 2:00 AM. Brunch will be served at Alto on Saturday and Sunday from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM.

The hotel includes over 8,000 square feet of dedicated conference, meeting and event space, with the second floor dedicated to meeting rooms, a dramatic ballroom and an executive boardroom. The ninth floor has a lounge-style private event space, as well as The Hampshire Suite, an 800 square-foot event space with commanding views of the entire Manhattan skyline. The second floor offers several sizes of meeting spaces, all bathed in natural light and warm tones offering a neutral backdrop for any event.
