Kirkwood Collection (www.kirkwoodcollection.com), a new luxury hotel brand, announces the recent addition and upcoming renovation of the historic Garden Street Inn hotel in San Luis Obispo, expanding its portfolio to five properties. Set to blend "old world" charm with "new world" sophistication, Garden Street Inn joins the family-owned and operated collection of uniquely design-driven boutique properties.

This recent takeover follows Kirkwood Collection's successful launch of Hideaway Santa Barbara earlier this year and marks their continued expansion into iconic California destinations - including Santa Barbara, San Luis Obispo, Rancho Mirage and Palm Springs - with a sole focus on uniquely boutique properties.

Garden Street Inn is the vision of charm, nestled in the vibrant historic core of Downtown San Luis Obispo within central-coast wine country. The 8,000 sq. ft, 1887 Italianate / Queen Ann Victorian Mansion was originally the home of German/Jewish immigrants, Morris and Helena Goldtree and, after several different owners, was lovingly restored and converted into a 13-room bed and breakfast in 1989. Kirkwood Collection is now the steward of Garden Street Inn and once renovations are complete they will deliver a high-end boutique hotel experience. Guests will be met with complimentary champagne in the Goldtree Library upon check-in.

The hotel will undergo an extensive renovation set to deliver sophisticated design and first-class hospitality. Currently in the design-development phase, the renovation will commence late 2020 and be completed in early 2021 elevating Garden Street Inn to Kirkwood Collection elegance while remaining loyal to its historic roots. The brand will also debut a boutique restaurant and wine bar, serving high tea to locals and travelers alike. The hotel will undergo an extensive renovation set to deliver sophisticated des ign and first-class hospitality. The property will be redesigned by Kirkwood Collection's growing in-house design team led by Michelle McClory who completed the celebrated reimagination of Hideaway Santa Barbara earlier this year and is simultaneously developing Blue Sands Inn on East Beach in Santa Barbara. During her career, Michelle has worked alongside acclaimed designers including Jeffrey Alan Marks and Michael Smith. The new design will deliver a modern take on the classic Victorian aesthetic and, as part of the extensive renovations, Kirkwood Collection will be adding 3 additional guestrooms. Kirkwood Collection's primary directive is to ensure each property maintains its unique personality while delivering uniformly exceptional experiences for guests. Garden Street Inn will cater to the sophisticated traveler and promises its guests a true "home away from home" experience.
