Swiss-Belhotel International, the global hospitality management chain, has announced the launch of its inaugural hotel in Malaysia, marking a major step forward in its global expansion strategy.

The Hong Kong-based hotel group, which recently celebrated its 32nd anniversary, currently has 145 hotels and resorts either operating or in the pipeline in 22 countries on four continents. This collection now includes Swiss-Belhotel Kuantan, an exceptional new waterfront hotel at Tanjung Lumpur on the west coast of Peninsular Malaysia, just 2km from Kuantan, the capital of Pahang state.

Scheduled to open in Q1 2020, this landmark property will be set directly on the sparkling seafront. Rising 27 storeys from the promenade, this four-star hotel will comprise 366 rooms and suites, all featuring modern amenities for business and leisure travellers such as LED TVs, free Wi-Fi and power showers. The 86 Family Rooms create opportunities for multi-generational vacations and 16 villas offer additional luxury and exclusivity.

Swiss-Belhotel Kuantan will provide a wide range of upscale leisure facilities, including a swimming pool, children's pool, spa, jacuzzi, fitness centre and a "water lounge". The Swiss-Café is a bright and vibrant all-day restaurant, while the Lobby Lounge is a chic and sophisticated setting for drinks and light bites, and room service is available round-the-clock. Finally, ten state-of-the-art meeting rooms and a ballroom can cater for all types of event, from intimate strategy meetings and training sessions to grand corporate conferences and gala dinners. The hotel forms part of Kuantan Waterfront Resort City (KWRC), an impressive 202-hectare, mixed-use development featuring a retail mall, conference centre, residences, a healthcare hub, marina and leisure facilities, plus waterfront bars and restaurants. As Pahang state's first integrated tourism complex, this will be a real game-changer for the area.

Kuantan's Sultan Ahmad Shah Airport is just 25 minutes' drive away, offering direct connections to and from Kuala Lumpur, Singapore and Penang. Planned rail links will also slash the overland journey time from Kuala Lumpur to just an hour.

Swiss-Belhotel International's debut in Malaysia forms part of a broader growth strategy in the country, and worldwide. The group is also planning to introduce new properties to other key destinations in future, including Kuala Lumpur and Melaka.

By the end of 2020, the company expects to increase its total global portfolio to 250 properties comprising approximately 25,000 rooms under its 14 diverse brands, spanning the hospitality spectrum from economy to luxury.
