Malmaison is breathing new life into a converted landmark in York, the Aviva insurance building. The hotel is set to offer stylish bedrooms and modern interior design, elements synonymous with the Malmaison brand, and is the first of its hotels to offer a separate SkyBar, in addition to the iconic Chez Mal Brasserie & Bar.

The hotel has 150 guest bedrooms, event space for up to 180 and multiple Work+Play meeting rooms, with guests also being able to enjoy a spa, a fully equipped and spacious gym and an on-site Starbucks. Situated on the corner of Rougier Street, the hotel is a stone's throw away from of some of the city's most famous attractions, including York Dungeons, York Castle and the historic York City walls. York train station and the River Ouse are both a few minute walks away, with the Yorkshire Museum & Gardens, York Art Gallery and the world famous University of York a short walk over the bridge. Designers have taken inspiration from the city's industrial heritage and brutalist architecture, mixing concrete and moody elements with softer textures and confectionery touch points, drawing on York's famous alumni including the Rowntree and the Terry families.
