Los Angeles-based Palisociety has announced its second property in the Pacific Northwest, Hotel Grand Stark, set to debut in May in the city's Central Eastside neighborhood. Hotel Grand Stark is part of the brand's expanding independent collection portfolio, sitting alongside its signature Palihouse and Palihotel branded properties with a moniker of its own. In addition to its recent acquisition of the ARRIVE brand, Hotel Grand Stark will be the brand's second new 2021opening, following Palihouse Santa Barbara, debuting in March.

Perched in Portland's Central Eastside, across the river from the city's downtown core, Hotel Grand Stark is a 57-room historic property that has been carefully and thoughtfully designed and reimagined back to its hospitality roots. The 1906 building is a four-story structure that was originally built as a hotel and formerly housed a legendary local furniture manufacturer for the past 80 years.

Known for its locally inspired and neighborhood-centric approach to independent hospitality, Palisocietyhas developed Hotel Grand Stark as a communal, inclusive public space featuring a welcoming lobby with a separate study hall open to both hotel guests and locals alike. The gallery-inspired central lobby connects the public spaces upon entry with a neutral backdrop punctuated by a carefully collected art installation, custom furnishings, and vintage pieces throughout. The study hall has been designed to be a community work and meeting space that can also be used as a private dining room for intimate special events

Guest rooms are bright and airy with a combination of light blue-washed walls paired with light wood floors original to the building. A playful mix of millwork, textiles, and patterns are layered throughout, combining florals, tartans, and wovens to create dimension and personality in the space, while vintage rugs and custom lighting add a residential-inspired element of comfort and style. The mix of king, queen, and double-bedded guest rooms all feature fine Italian linens, bathrooms with luxe rain showers and Diptyquebath amenities, signature Palisociety stocked minibars with gourmet snacks, SMEG mini-refrigerators, and more. Select guest rooms offer views of downtown Portland as well as a dedicated workspace and cozy seating area.

The hotel will also be home to two food & beverage concepts - the Grand Stark Deli and Bar Chamberlain- developed in partnership with the local culinary creative minds at Submarine Hospitality (Ava Gene's, Tusk, Cicoria). The former pays homage to deli culture, incorporating the best of local Pacific Northwest ingredients and serving an approachable all-day menu from morning until late. Bar Chamberlain harkens back to the era of classic hotel bars featuring expertly crafted cocktails alongside a progressive, largely natural wine list anchored by a menu of crave-able snacks and comforting dinners.
