Tidewater Capital, a San Francisco based real estate investment and development company, today announced the completion of Oakland's first Moxy Hotel, a young-at-heart brand by Marriott International. In partnership with co-developer Graves Hospitality, Tidewater is introducing Moxy Oakland Downtown as the first modularly constructed Moxy in the U.S., applying this sustainable construction method to generate less waste and increase the building's energy efficiency. The development of the 172-room Moxy Oakland Downtown is also the result of Tidewater utilizing the opportunity zone investment program.

The boutique hotel, which represents one of the first new hotel developments in downtown Oakland in nearly a decade, signifies a response to the increased appeal of Oakland's energetic urban environment. With a focus on investing in the local community to foster long-term prosperity, Tidewater's decision to partner with Marriott, Graves Hospitality and multiple local non-profit organizations underscores the breadth of impact possible for the hotel. Further, the approach utilizing modular construction will help educate local architects, contractors and investors on the modular build process. Throughout its construction, The Moxy Oakland Downtown brought 100 jobs to the community and upon its March 31 opening is expected to bring new permanent jobs to the downtown Oakland area, furthering Tidewater's mission to support this dynamic, growing city.

Moxy Oakland features smartly designed guest rooms and a unique bar check-in experience where guests not only receive their room key, but also a craft cocktail or non-alcoholic beverage on the house.
