The closest island to Singapore and Malaysia, Batam is a significant player in attracting foreign investment to set up business in Indonesia -thanks to its strategic location in the international shipping route. This industrial city is also known as the third-busiest entry port to Indonesia after Bali and Jakarta. With those key advantages, ARTOTEL Group proudly collaborates with PT Hotel Ozon International to launch ARTOTEL Batam, which officially opens its doors today on 9 August 2022.

Combining the concept of art and lifestyle, ARTOTEL Batam is an art inspired boutique hotel that targets both young holiday and business travellers. A hotel with great art, ARTOTEL Batam displays various artworks in every corner of the hotel facilities: public spaces such as the lobby area, and in every guest room. In decorating the interior, ARTOTEL Batam worked together with four young Indonesian artists: Katon Bagaskara, Mohammad Taufiq, Nus Solomon, and Tempa, who collaborated in creating a contemporary artwork with the theme 'Silk Road'. It tells a story about a vital trade route between the East and the West. The artwork is embedded with traditional elements of Indonesia, such as the shadow puppets, batik, and also the country's flora and fauna.

ARTOTEL Batam is strategically located in the Penuin Centre shopping area on Batu Selicin street, which is known as the business and trade area in Batam City. It is just 30-minutes drive from Hang Nadim International Airport and 10-minute away by car from Harbour Bay & Batam Centre Port. ARTOTEL Batam features 138 artsy guest rooms in two different types: Studio 30 and Studio 45. The hotel has two F&B outlets, such as EATSPACE and BARSPACE which will become the new hangout destination in Batam which serves various modern food and beverages, as well as live entertainment. In addition, ARTOTEL Batam also offers three meeting rooms MEETSPACE which can accommodate up to 120 people, as well as ARTSPACE as an art gallery -a dedicated space available in every hotel with the ARTOTEL Brand. ARTSPACE will host regular art exhibitions where guests and the local community will be able to admire the artworks made or created by Indonesian artists, especially those who are from Batam.

Located in the lobby area, ARTSPACE hosts its inaugural art exhibition today on the opening day of ARTOTEL Batam. It is a collaborative art exhibition by six local artists: Katon Bagaskara, Mohammad Taufiq, Tempa, Syam Terrajana, Abang Seni and M. Syobirin. Syam is an artist from Yogyakarta, while Abang Seni and M. Syobirin are from Batam. The theme for this first art exhibition is 'Reflection', which is an invitation for the audiences and art enthusiasts to reflect on what we, as human beings, have been through for the last two years. Through the artworks, the artists encourage guests to hope for a brighter future.
