Michael NewcombeNewcombe joins the hotel from Four Seasons Resort and Club Dallas at Las Colinas, where he spent four years as general manager. In Dallas, the Hotel specialised in groups and incentive business from smaller programs to full resort buyouts. He looks forward to creating a similar profile of business in Westlake Village. Prior to his stint in the Lone Star state, Newcombe was the opening general manager of Four Seasons Hotel Hampshire near London. He also spent time as Hotel Manager at Four Seasons Hotel Dublin and assisted with the re-opening of Four Seasons Hotel Sydney. He joined Four Seasons Hotels in Resorts in 1994 as Director of Rooms at the Regent London (formerly a Four Seasons Hotel). Originally from Stratford-upon-Avon in England, Newcombe travelled frequently with his father, an executive at a British automotive company, during his younger years; yet his inspiration for hotel work came from a film adaptation of Arthur Hailey’s Hotel, which he saw on television as a 12-year-old. “I became fascinated by the idea of a business operating 24/7, never knowing what the next day will bring,” he recalls. Newcombe holds a business management degree from Solent University in Southampton and a post-graduate diploma from Lausanne Ecole Hotelier in Lausanne, Switzerland. He and his partner, Patty, are proud parents to Summer, who will celebrate her first birthday in California. In his spare time, Newcombe enjoys outdoor pursuits such as playing golf and sailing. As a competitive sailor in England, he looks forward to exploring the Pacific Coast as time allows. He is also passionate about wine and food. Although a lover of the old world wines from Italy and France, he is now a convert to all things California, including local varietals.
