Vikram OberoiPRS “Biki” Oberoi, the legendary 82-year-old Indian hotelier and chairman of The Oberoi Group, has named his son, Vikram Oberoi, as his successor. Biki Oberoi, who was named HOTELS’ 2010 Corporate Hotelier of the World, intends to remain in his role as long as possible. But in an interview with The Times of India, he confirms for the first time that his eldest son will eventually assume control of his luxury hotel empire. The 47-year-old Vikram currently serves as chief operating officer of EIH, the subsidiary company that manages the Oberoi hotel portfolio. "He (Vikram) is the eldest. He will take over from me," Biki says. "Vikram has been more interested in the operations of the hotels, while Arjun is on in the planning side.” Arjun Oberoi is Biki’s 43-year-old nephew who serves as chief planning officer for EIH and who was also thought to be under consideration as Biki’s successor. Vikram holds a degree in science from Pepperdine University in California. He helped open Oberoi’s Rajvilas in Jaipur before ascending to the position of joint managing director of EIH in 2007.
