Marco MenzhausenMost recently, he served as resort manager at Paradise Point Resort & Spa, overseeing the idyllic resort’s operation. During his tenure, the property was ranked number one in its competitive set and he led the resort to the first AAA Four Diamond award rating in its 50-year history. Several of the top awards and accolades earned during his leadership included being named the 2012 “Best Hotel Space” by the Professional Convention Management Association, a “Top San Diego Seaside Hotel” in 2011 by USA Today, and Destination Hotels & Resorts Hotel of the Year, along with an Elite Meetings’ Gold Collection Certification in 2012. Prior to Paradise Point Resort & Spa, Menzhausen served as resort manager at the La Jolla Beach and Tennis Club in La Jolla, Ca. There, he was responsible for the sales, marketing and operation for the multi-site complex comprised of two hotels, three restaurants, including the renowned, upscale Marine Room, a 4,000 member country club, the PDO apartment complex and the FW Kellogg commercial building. Under his leadership both hotels consistently ranked first to its competitive set as reported by Smith Travel Research. Menzhausen’s extensive background also includes overseeing the 511-room, AAA Four Diamond Omni San Diego Hotel, as well as several international properties including the Five Star, AAA Four Diamond Hotel Camino Real in Cancun Mexico, Hoteles M.M. in Puerto de la Cruz, Tenerife, Canary Islands, Spain as well as five years with Hyatt Hotels & Resorts in southern California. Fluent in English, Spanish and German, Menzhausen earned a culinary degree from the Industrie und Handleskammer für Augsburg und Schwaben, Germany and studied Hotel and Restaurant Management at the United States International University, San Diego, California. In 1998, he earned a diploma in Managerial Development from the Instituto Tecnológico de Estudios Superiores, Monterrey, México. Currently, he serves as director and treasurer for the 1,616-unit Scripps Ranch Villages Master Association and treasurer and director for the non-profit organization “The Friends of La Jolla Shores,” and is an active member of the San Diego Tourism Authority, San Diego Hotel-Motel Association and the Global Hoteliers Club. Menzhausen, who is married with three children, is an enthusiast of gourmet food, good wines and fine cigars. In his leisure time he enjoys playing soccer, scuba diving and spending time with his family.
