Luis Fernandes has been appointed Managing Director at Rosewood at Baha Mar in Nassau
Due to open in 2015, Rosewood at Baha Mar is part of Rosewood’s strategic global expansion plan which also includes the opening of Rosewood London and Rosewood Beijing later this year. Luis Fernandes is an accomplished hospitality executive with proven international experience in branding, maximizing operational performance and developing strong leaders through motivational teamwork. Over the last two decades, he has guided the course of world-acclaimed resorts and brands, building identities and forging partnerships with long-term benefits for all involved. Luis’s appointment marks a return to the company for him. During his Rosewood past, Luis held several positions including Executive Assistant Manager of Hotel Al-Khozama and Managing Director of Las Ventanas al Paraiso in Cabo. Unique offerings such as the pool butlers, pre-loaded iPods, sunglass cleaning and repair services, and the renowned pool wake-up call are just a few of the special touches Luis implemented to help make Las Ventanas one of the most renowned resorts in the world. Under Luis’ watch, Las Ventanas earned the ranking of Number 1 or Number 2 “Best Resort in the World” by Andrew Harper in 2002, 2003, 2004 and 2005. Upon leaving Rosewood, Luis joined Ty Warner Hotels & Resorts as Chief Operating Officer and from there to Viceroy Hotel Group as Executive Vice President of Hotel Operations. After three years with Viceroy, Luis desired to return to his home country of Portugal and there he took over the leadership of Vila Vita Portugal. He joins Rosewood from his most recent position as Chief Operating Office for Longevity Wellness Worldwide. After his family, Luis is most passionate about interior design, fine wines, gastronomy and sustainable organic farming as well as sports including mountain biking, horseback riding and polo.
