Kate Northrop named Director of Events at Mondrian London
With over 25 years in the events industry, Kate Northrop has joined Mondrian London at Sea Containers as Director of Events, with vast experience in production, on-site operation, logistics and execution of high profile events. Prior to joining Mondrian London, Kate worked as a freelance Event Producer for The Katie Piper Foundation, developing their fundraising gala dinner, including events logistics, securing celebrity entertainment, creating fundraising activities and handling all branding and marketing relating to the event. Kate was also the Event Producer and consultant for Jamie Oliver and the Jamie Oliver Foundation. She developed ‘A Big Night Out with Jamie’ into a sell-out fundraiser event for the Jamie Oliver Foundation. Her other achievements in this post include creating and developing a new food and music festival entitled ‘The Big Feastival’, with an attendance of 23,000 people over three days on Clapham Common in 2011. Previous to this, Kate worked extensively in the hospitality sector as Banqueting Manager of Jumeirah Carlton Tower, The Berkeley, The Landmark and was in event sales for The Savoy Group. She also worked on the preopening of The Great Eastern, (now known as Andaz Liverpool Street), heading up the events department with a team of 16. Mondrian London, the first ever Mondrian branded boutique hotel outside of the United States, will launch in Spring 2014. Situated on the banks of The River Thames in the famed Sea Containers building, the hotel is a striking presence between the OXO Tower and Blackfriars Bridge. Mondrian London is being designed by Design Research Studio under creative direction of interiors visionary Tom Dixon, marking the first ever hotel project for the studio. Featuring 359 stunning guest rooms and suites, most with outdoor space and river views, Mondrian London will house a riverside bar and brasserie with outdoor seating, an exclusive rooftop lounge and terrace, a signature agua Spa with six treatment suites, relaxation space and a manicure and pedicure room, and a private screening room.
