Glenn ParkerGlenn Parker has assumed the role of General Manager at the Doha Renaissance Hotel, Courtyard and Marriott Executive Apartments effective immediately. Glenn is a 30 year veteran in the hospitality industry with significant international operations experience and a proven track record in the Middle East. Glenn joined Marriott in 1973 and held various positions in hotel management, procurement and sales and marketing both domestically and internationally. In 1983, after his first international assignment in Saudi Arabia as Food and Beverage Director for two years, Glenn moved to Marriott’s Regional Office in London, England as Senior Director of Procurement. In 1987, Glenn became Vice President of Food and Beverage for Marriott Management Services (MMS). In 1990, Glenn moved to Marriott’s Procurement and Distribution Division as Vice President of Regional and International Procurement for Marriott operations worldwide. In 1993, Glenn returned to Lodging Operations as General Manager for the Houston Marriott Medical Center Hotel where he served as Chairman of the Houston Business Council as well as Chairman for the Marriott Diversity Council. In 1996, Glenn became the General Manager of the Riyadh Marriott Hotel in Saudi Arabia where he participated as a board member of the American Businessmen’s Association of Saudi Arabia. This assignment was followed by the appointment to General Manager for the Budapest Marriott Hotel and the Millennium Court, Marriott’s first foray into Executive Apartments. In 2001, Glenn returned to Marriott Corporate Headquarters as Vice President of Supplier Relations. This position provided strategic direction and executive management to the procurement function worldwide as well as overseeing Marriott’s Regional Procurement offices in London, UK and Eschborn, Germany covering Continental Europe, the United Kingdom, Ireland and the Middle East. After retiring from Marriott in 2002, Glenn took on task force assignments for Marriott International, highlighted in 2005 by the pre-opening General Manager Position for the Renaissance Hotel in Aktau, Kazakhstan. After working with RockResorts as pre-opening GM at Tempo Miami and also Balcones Del Atlántico in the Dominican Republic, Glenn has returned to Marriott to assume this new assignment in Qatar.
