Paul Heery has been appointed General Manager at The Gleneagles® Hotel
Heery, originally from Ireland, will join the AA Five Red Star resort in December 2014. His experience includes roles at The Merrion Hotel in Dublin, and Ritz Carlton properties in Washington DC, New York and California. Most recently he was Hotel Operations Manager at the Connaught Hotel, London for two years. The appointment is the first time in around 30 years that the General Manager has been recruited externally, with a candidate that has never worked at Gleneagles before. Bernard Murphy, the resort’s current General Manager, will remain at Gleneagles in his new positon of Managing Director, effective January 2015. He will also continue his various roles as Chairman of the Connoisseur Scotland Group (a Marketing Consortium for luxury tourism properties); Hospitality Industry Trust Scotland (HITS) Trustee and Board Member of the International Leadership School in Scotland.
