Meinrad SchiblerOakwood Asia Pacific Ltd., which manages serviced apartments for business and leisure travelers, announced the appointment of Meinrad Schibler as general manager of Oakwood Premier Joy-Nostalg Manila, its Oakwood-branded property in the Philippines. Schibler has had more than 12 years’ experience as general manager, for hotels ranging from mid-scale to deluxe five-star, including resort properties and conference hotels with extensive catering capabilities. He has worked with brands from Westin, Le Meridien and Sheraton to Radisson and Parkinn, and has managed properties from 50 rooms to 640 rooms, including a twin-hotel complex. Starting his hospitality career as a Night Manager at Hotel Pullman (now Sofitel) in Zurich, Schibler moved on to managing restaurants for the next eight years, culminating in a role as general manager of Night Club and Restaurant Sixty One in Zurich, Switzerland. He moved back to hotels with the role of general manager at Hotel Alfa in Bern, Switzerland. From there he managed hotels in Tallinn, Estonia to Leipzig, Germany, and from Cairo to Sharm el Sheikh in Egypt. Schibler graduated from the Swiss Hotel School in Lucerne and also holds an executive BBA from the Graduate School of Business Administration in Zurich. A Swiss national, Schibler is fluent in German, French, English and Spanish, and knows basic Russian and Italian.
