Paul McneilAs the $57 million restoration of the historic former Hotel Syracuse enters its next stages, the Marriott Syracuse Downtown has announced Paul McNeil as the new general manager for the renowned historical hotel located in Syracuse, NY, slated to open in Spring 2016. As general manager, McNeil is responsible for all aspects of the operation of the hotel including ensuring quality guest experiences in the 261 guest rooms; managing the 43,000 sq. ft. of flexible meeting space including corporate group events; supervising the headquarters hotel for the Onondaga County Convention Center; and overseeing the hotel’s weddings and social events including a fleet of distinctive in-house restaurants. A veteran hotelier with unique experience in major hotel renovations, McNeil’s career with Marriott began in 1985 when he helped open the Atlanta Marriott Marquis. In 2007, he served as general manager of the Marriott Trumbull Merritt Parkway, leading an extensive renovation at that property. Most recently, he oversaw the Boston Peabody Marriott‘s 2013 renovation. His experience with the company also includes appointments at 14 hotels throughout the United States, including San Antonio River Center, San Francisco Moscone Center, and New York Marquis. A Buffalo native and graduate of the University of Massachusetts, McNeil and his family reside in Central New York.
