Raúl CobRaul hails from Valencia and is considered to be amongst the top 20 most influential chefs in Spain. He has recently returned from Doha, where he spent 18 months as Head Chef at El Faro restaurant, located in the Marsa Malaz Kempinski Hotel, The Pearl, Doha. Whilst there, Raul’s key objective was to bring authentic Spanish Cuisine and flavours to guests and clients, quickly setting El Faro ahead of the competition as the authentic-Spanish-cuisine restaurant. Now, as he returns to his homeland, Raul brings with him a wealth of experience and determination to create the most traditional paella and rice dishes on the Costa del Sol this summer. As Executive Chef at Kempinski Hotel Bahía, Raul Cob will oversee a number of restaurants, including the beautiful La Cabaña del Mar, which is situated on the beach with breath taking views, Raul will also manage and implement the latest project at Kempinski Hotel Bahía which will be the opening of a new restaurant called Oushi Toro. Oushi Toro will serve Spanish food, with a touch of oriental flavour, a combination which will take the guest on a culinary journey of exciting new dishes created from the finest Spanish meats, fish and organic vegetables. The name Oushi Toro, is derived from the Japanese word for bull ‘Oushi’ and the Spanish word for bull ‘Toro’. Raul began his career in Valencia, where he progressed to open his own restaurant, El Cabanyal, just outside the city centre, where it has quickly gained fame as one of the best paella and seafood restaurants in the area. This January, Raul was awarded the title ‘Best Chef’ by Wikipaella, an organisation dedicated to the recognition and promotion of the authentic paella, whose origins lie in Valencia. His restaurant is now listed along with 262 others that are now declared as restaurants serving ‘traditional paella’, a much sought-after accolade for any restaurant owner. Raul is fanatical about, wild fresh fish and seafood. He is also a strong believer in the beauty and power of the Mediterranean diet, and where better to explore this rich and varied diet this summer than at Kempinski Hotel Bahia.
