Michael BriggsMichael Briggs is new General Manager at Inn by the Sea, a luxurious boutique hotel located on a mile of unspoiled sand beach, just 7 miles south of Portland, Maine. An industry veteran with extensive resort management experience, Briggs is responsible for the resorts overall operation which includes 61 up-scale guestrooms and suites, ocean view restaurant and full service SPA. As well as overseeing the financial success of the Inn, Briggs will supervise construction of 12, two bedroom, cottage style suites, which will open June 2017. Briggs brings new leadership to the team at Inn by the Sea with a background in resort and hotel management, and a well established commitment to service and guest satisfaction. Most recently he was Resort Manager for the luxurious 217 room Chatham Bars Inn Resort and SPA on Cape Cod. Previously, he held several leadership positions at The Colonnade Hotel in Boston, The Charles Hotel in Cambridge, and was Front Office Manager at Chatham Bars Inn Resort and SPA before taking over responsibility for overall daily operations there in 2006. I am delighted to be joining Inn by the Sea and look forward to being part of the Inns continued success. We already have plans in place for the next wave of reinvestment in the hotel with construction of upscale suites planned for fall and winter 2016-2017, said Briggs. Building on a culture of thoughtful, personalized service I hope to focus on all that makes Maine and this coastal location so special, and how that translates to being integral to the guest experience. Briggs is most recently credited with successfully spearheading property wide training to achieve a Forbes Travel Guide 4 Star Rating which covers resort, spa and dining at Chatham Bars Inn Resort and SPA, the only property in Massachusetts to achieve this triple Four Star award. He holds a degree in Hotel and Restaurant Management from Newbury College, Roger A. Saunders School of Hotel & Restaurant Management. Together with wife Amy and their nine year old son, Briggs is looking forward to enjoying an active outdoor life in Maine, biking, hiking and boating.
