Ken SimondsOmni La Costa Resort & Spa, California’s premier destination for mind, body and sport, today announced the appointment of Ken Simonds as the new head golf professional at the resort’s two award-winning signature courses, the Champions Course and the Legends Course. A Professional Golf Association (PGA) Class-A Professional with more than 16 years of experience, Simonds will assist in developing the resort’s world-class guest services and member relations, stand-out golf instructional programs, tournament recruitment, and special events for the two iconic Southern California courses and practice facilities. Originally from San Diego, Simonds has honed his skills at some of the finest courses in California. Prior to his new role at Omni La Costa Resort & Spa, Simonds most recently served as director of golf for the Calabasas Country Club, an 18-hole private club located in Calabasas, Calif. While there, he was responsible for the year-round course operations and high-level services for its 460 members and their guests, development of golf academy instruction and performance center, and employee training and development. Simonds previously served as head golf professional at the flagship PGA West nine-course golf complex in La Quinta, Calif., specializing in large-scale tournament coordination for multiple PGA Tour events. He held the same position at Whitetail Golf Club in McCall, Idaho. Simonds also held the position of golf professional at the renowned Bel-Air Country Club in Los Angeles, Calif., The Grand Golf Club in Del Mar, Calif., and at Whitney Oaks Golf Club in Rocklin, Calif. Simonds was elected to PGA Membership in 2004 and received an Associate Degree in Golf Complex Operations and Management in 2001 from the Golf Academy of America in San Diego, California. He is an alumnus of San Diego State University, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in English.
