Bernhard HaechlerShangri-La’s Le Touessrok Resort & Spa, Mauritius has announced the appointment of Bernhard Haechler as General Manager. Having joined the iconic property last month, Haechler will continue to establish the resort as one of the leading hotels in the Indian Ocean, following its relaunch under Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts in November 2015. Haechler is responsible for the management of the 200-room property and oversee all operations and teams within the hotel, as well as for the three exclusive Beach Villas. Mr. Haechler brings with him over twenty years’ experience at senior management level within Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts. As one of the Asia-based group’s most trusted managers, eight key Shangri-La properties across the Middle East and the Indian Ocean – including sister property Shangri-La’s Villingili Resort & Spa, Maldives - have reported to him in his previous role as Vice President and General Manager. He was also Area Manager and General Manager at Shangri-La's Rasa Sayang Resort & Spa, Penang and General Manager at Shangri-La Hotel, Bangkok; Edsa Shangri-La, Manila and Kowloon Shangri-La, Hong Kong. Most recently, Haechler worked in the United Arab Emirates, as Vice President and General Manager of Shangri-La Hotel, Dubai. A dual Swiss and South African native, Haechler has extensive senior management experience within the luxury hospitality sector. His first foray into hospitality was his hotel school training at the Schweizerische Hotelfachschule in Lucerne, Switzerland.
