James YoungYoung served at sister-property InterContinental Doha as resident manager from 2001 to 2004. In his current position, Young will oversee the operation of 525 rooms - 176 of which are apartments ranging from one to four bedrooms, seven food and beverage outlets, a meeting and events centre with five meeting rooms as well as a grand ballroom of 1,100 m2, and a health and fitness club. He will also be responsible for managing a team of over 300 people. Young joins the Doha hotel from IHG South East Asia, where he previously held the post of area general manager Indochina and general manager of InterContinental Saigon Hotel and Residences in Vietnam. He brings a wealth of international leadership experience in the hotel industry and has been with the InterContinental Hotels Group for over twenty years since he joined the InterContinental Park Lane London, with 16 of those years spent in executive management.Prior to his post at InterContinental Saigon, he held the post of hotel manager for Crowne Plaza Dubai from 2004 – 2006, he was then the general manager at the Crowne Plaza Abu Dhabi from 2006 – 2010, followed by the Crowne Plaza Dubai Sheikh Zayed Road from 2010-2013. A British-citizen, Young has a first class honours degree in International Hospitality and Tourism from Sheffield Hallam University, and has spent the last year completing his MBA with the University of Bradford School of Management. Young replaces Pascal Eggerstedt, who has now been appointed as cluster general manager of Crowne Plaza and Staybridge Suites Yas Island, Abu Dhabi.
