Shel BourdonTwo Roads Hospitality, a newly-created international lifestyle company featuring an unrivaled collection of truly individual hotels, resorts and vacation residences, has appointed Shel Bourdon as National Director of Bars. Shel helped launch some of the country’s most celebrated bars including Los Angeles’ The Tar Pit and Playa, Phoenix’s Blue Hound Kitchens and Cocktails, and James Beard award finalist The Dead Rabbit and Donna. In this newly-created role, she is responsible for developing bar programming and concepts, educating beverage teams, and overseeing Two Roads robust roster of bars, lounges, and rooftop venues at Thompson Hotels, Joie de Vivre Hotels, Alila, Destination Hotels and tommie.Shel’s love of hospitality began at a young age with her first job at a family-owned restaurant in her home state of California. In 2008 a chance meeting with Cedd Moses, CEO of 213 Nightlife, reinforced her love of food & beverage and Shel began working at Los Angeles based speakeasy The Doheny. She quickly realized that education and innovation in the world of spirits was her calling, and a healthy obsession with craft cocktails began. Shel also has extensive hotel brand experience, playing a crucial role in food and beverage openings for both Thompson Hotels and Kimpton Hotels – experience that helped shape her understanding of multi-outlet bar and restaurant operations. Most recently, she held the role of east coast Brand Ambassador for Beefeater and Plymouth Gin at Pernod Ricard USA where she led trade education and marketing on the East Coast. A native of San Diego, Shel is a member of the United States Bartenders’ Guild and graduate of the BarSmarts BAR 5-day, the highest level spirits certification course.
