Prior to this, Mr Dewar was general manager of Shangri-La Hotel, Guangzhou in China.Of Scottish nationality, Mr Dewar embarked on his professional hospitality career in a Hong Kong luxury hotel in 1989. With years of professional exposure and holding different senior positions at a number of international hotel groups and private clubs in various destinations, including Singapore, Thailand, Indonesia, Malaysia, China and Hong Kong, Mr Dewar is well-versed in this field and is delighted to bring his knowledge and experience back to Hong Kong. No stranger to Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts, Mr. Dewar has worked at several Shangri-La properties, including The Aberdeen Marina Club in Hong Kong, Shangri‑La’s Tanjung Aru Resort & Spa, Kota Kinabalu in Malaysia, Shangri-La Hotel, Shenzhen and Shangri-La Hotel, Guangzhou. With his extensive experience and expertise, Mr Dewar will oversee nearly 800 employees and the management of the hotel’s 688 guestrooms, seven food and beverage outlets, 24-hour in-room dining, 15 function rooms, including a pillar-free Grand Ballroom that caters to up to 700 people, and all other facilities that meet the business and leisure needs of international travellers. Without a doubt, he will lead the property to greater heights in terms of hotel performance, service standards and enhancing value for customers, owners and business partners to become the ultimate choice for customers.
