Johanne Falconer Borthwick Castle, Scotland’s finest fifteenth century keep and one of the most magnificent exclusive hire locations in the UK, has appointed luxury hospitality specialist Johanne Falconer as General Manager with immediate effect. Based at the castle, Falconer brings over 20 years’ industry experience with an extensive background in high-end hotel leadership and management to the role. Falconer is responsible for driving Borthwick Castle forward as a bastion of luxury in the private hire sector. Falconer will be responsible for developing and overseeing all areas of the business including guest experience, sales and marketing, and operations. A high-level recruitment drive to fulfil senior roles within these departments will be among her first responsibilities. Falconer, who has travelled extensively to experience some of the world’s finest hotels and restaurants, has fulfilled General Manager roles in high profile properties across Scotland and in Edinburgh including The Townhouse Collection including The Bonham, The Edinburgh Residence, The Howard and Channings. At Fonab Castle Hotel & Spa, an exquisite five-star property in Highland Perthshire, Falconer was appointed General Manager shortly after the hotel’s opening. She was tasked with introducing formal strategies and procedures throughout and establishing the hotel as a destination in its own right. Falconer holds a BA in Hospitality, Enterprise and Tourism from Queen Margaret College, Edinburgh and in 2010 attended the Corporate Management Programme at the Ecole hôtelière de Lausanne.
