Fairmont Hotels and Resorts, the iconic world leading hotel group known for its historic luxury and unparalleled service, has announced the appointment of Casey Barks as Regional Director of Public Relations for Fairmont in the Pacific Northwest.

In his new position, Barks will oversee the PR and media efforts for the five hotels within the Pacific Northwest region, including Fairmont Empress, Fairmont Hotel Vancouver, Fairmont Pacific Rim, Fairmont Vancouver Airport and Fairmont Waterfront.

Barks most recently served as Director of Communications, Fairmont Austin, where he led the brand's largest hotel opening to date through pre-and-post opening. His time at Fairmont Austin helped to position the hotel as a luxury hospitality leader in the Texas market.

Bringing over 10 years of hospitality PR and marketing experience to Fairmont's Pacific Northwest Region, Barks is no stranger to the area as prior to Austin, he served as Senior PR & Marketing Manager at the Fairmont Olympic Hotel in Seattle. Before his time in the Pacific Northwest, he held progressive roles within the San Francisco area, from Marketing Director at Tacolicious Restaurant Group to Senior Account Manager at Andrew Freeman and Company. Barks started his hospitality PR and marketing career at The Ritz-Carlton Residences in both San Francisco and Lake Tahoe.

Barks graduated Cum Laude from Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff, Arizona, and holds dual bachelors' of science degrees in Public Relations and Advertising with an emphasis in Marketing. In 2015, he was elected to be a member of the Executive Committee for the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) Travel & Tourism Section and in 2019 was elected to be PRSA Travel & Tourism Committee Chair for 2020. In 2019, he was selected by Fairmont's North & Central American Region to join the brand's Food & Beverage Council, supporting Fairmont's direction within the food and beverage landscape and evolving culinary trends through 2022.

Wencke Bolsius - General Manager

27 February 2020 — From 1 March, Wencke Bolsius will start as General Manager at Swissôtel Amsterdam. After almost ten years as Head of Revenue for the Hotel Okura Amsterdam, she takes over from Harold Kluit, former General Manager of Swissôtel Amsterdam.
