Matt Bailey

Montage Hotels & Resorts has announced the appointment of Matt Bailey as general manager of Montage Kapalua Bay. With over four decades of hotel industry experience -more than 20 years of which is in Hawaii alone - Bailey is responsible for all Kapalua Bay beachfront resort's daily operations.

Bailey joins Montage Kapalua Bay from Carmel Valley Ranch in California where he served as managing director for the past year establishing service levels, instilling a strategic mindset, and improving top line revenue and guest satisfaction. Previously, he spent five years as president and chief operating officer of Aqua-Aston Hospitality, at the time the largest management company in Hawaii, where he oversaw all aspects of operations.

Additional leadership roles throughout his career in hospitality have included managing director of The Grand Wailea Resort Hotel & Spa, a Waldorf Astoria Resort in Hawaii; senior vice president of Aston Hotels & Resorts in Honolulu; co-founder and executive vice president of Fandango Resorts in Park City, Utah; vice president & general manager of Sundance Resort in Utah; general manager of The Manele Bay Hotel in Lanai City, Hawaii; resident manager of The Kapalua Bay Hotel & Villas in Hawaii; and general manager of the Keauhou Beach and Kona Lagoon Hotels in Kona, Hawaii.

Bailey received a Bachelor of Science degree in hotel administration from University of Nevada, Las Vegas. He has been an active and involved professional throughout his career, with board memberships in many industry organizations, most recently the Monterey County Hospitality Association, Hawaii Visitors and Convention Bureau and the Honolulu Board of Water Supply Stakeholders Advisory Group.
