Sam Barrell has been appointed Director of Business Development at Kew Green Hotels
Kew Green Hotels, one of the leading international hotel management companies with over 50 hotels in its portfolio, has appointed Sam Barrell as Director of Development, responsible for driving Kew Green's domestic and international growth strategy. This key appointment follows the recent announcement that Kew Green Hotels is expanding into South East Asia having signed seven hotels in addition to the announcement of an exclusive partnership with Light Human Hotels t o launch hotels from the end 2021 in eight international destinations.
Sam oversees Kew Green Hotels' asset management and development activities including management contracts, joint venture partnerships and direct acquisitions. He is also the senior contact for investment partners, commercial agents and development advisors.
Sam joins Kew Green Hotels from his role as Development Manager for UK and Ireland at IHG where he grew IHG's branded portfolio across the UK and Ireland through franchise license and hotel management agreements, securing partnerships with new IHG owners in addition to signing extensions and retention of existing assets.
A Chartered Management Accountant, prior to joining IHG, Sam spent his early career working internationally as a Finance and Strategy Management Consultant at Deloitte, following the completion of their graduate program. He primarily worked in the private sector for a range of clients in the banking , insurance and energy industries.
Outside of work, Sam is a keen marathoner and exercise enthusiast and can often be found running and cycling when not pursuing leads. Prior to joining Kew Green Hotels, Sam completed a 2,400km solo cycle trip across Europe, from the UK to Budapest via the Alps in a 27-day adventure that took him through 10 countries, from Flemish battlefields to Swiss mountains, and ultimately to Hungarian basilicas.
