Steven J. Smith

Hyatt Regency Hill Country Resort and Spa, the premier Hill Country resort located on 300 acres in San Antonio, announces Steven J. Smith as general manager. Smith joins the property from Hyatt Regency Houston.

With more than 36 years of experience working in the hospitality industry, Smith began his career working in the rooms division at Hyatt Regency Crystal City in Virginia. During his time working with Hyatt, he has held various positions ranging from opening project manager at Hyatt Regency Reston to senior opening rooms executive at Hyatt Regency Lake Las Vegas Resort. He has held general manager positions at hotels throughout the country including Hyatt Regency Bellevue, Hyatt Regency Long Beach, Hyatt Regency Washington D.C., Grand Hyatt Washington D.C., and most recently, Hyatt Regency Houston.

Smith graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management from the University of Winsconsin-Eau Claire. He has served on several tourism and community boards including the executive board of directors for Visit Houston, the board of directors for Destination D.C., and was the founder and chairman of the Long Beach Hospitality Alliance, among many others. He has received several professional distinctions including the Hotel Association of Washington D.C.'s "General Manager of the Year" award in 2015, and has been nominated for Hyatt's "General Manager of the Year" award in 2006, 2009, 2010, 2011, and 2013.
