Clayton van Hooijdonk

Turtle Bay Resort has named Clayton van Hooijdonk to the position of resort manager for this landmark property situated on Oahu's legendary North Shore. The resort is currently being reimagined and will open on July 1, 2021. A well-rounded hospitality leader with more than 20 years of experience working in luxury hotel properties, van Hooijdonk will oversee the resort's guest-facing operations, including its new restaurants, bars, amenities, and immersive new guest experiences.

Previously, van Hooijdonk served as director of food and beverage for the acclaimed Resort at Pelican Hill in Newport Beach, California, where he oversaw the property's multi-million dollar F&B operation. Before his role at Pelican Hill, van Hooijdonk served as director of food and beverage at The Montage Beverly Hills as well as the Intercontinental Miami in Florida. For nearly a decade prior, he was executive chef at Ritz-Carlton properties including The Ritz-Carlton, Key Biscayne in Florida; The Ritz-Carlton, Dove Mountain in Arizona; and The Ritz-Carlton, Boston Common in Massachusetts.

A native of New Zealand, van Hooijdonk holds dual degrees in Culinary Arts from Overmaas College and Economish College in the Netherlands. He began his hospitality career working in kitchens in the Netherlands before relocation to the U.S.
