Richard Dickson

Director of Global Partnerships at the Green Earth Appeal

Dickson

Having joined The Green Earth Appeal in early 2017, Richard is now the Director of Global partnerships for the Social and Environmental Not for Profit, The Green Earth Appeal’s largest initiative, Carbon Free Dining. Overseeing all partners, Richard has seen Carbon Free Dining’s impact double each year for the last three years! Partnered with restaurants and hotels across 12 different countries, Carbon Free Dining is the free to partner hospitality initiative that empowers diners to plant a fruit tree with their food bill to offset the Carbon Footprint of their meals and to provide a sustainable way of life for aid reliant communities. This gives diners a shot of feel good, creates positive word of mouth and associates partner restaurant brands with both environmental and social good! By simply adding an optionally removable 99p (or equivalent) to each dining bill, The Green Earth Appeal guarantees to plant a single fruit tree at one of its projects in the developing world and provides legal verification for this. Along with the provision of tools, education and infrastructure, not only do the trees help save the planet by absorbing around 25KG of CO2 every year (around a metric tonne in its useful life), but they provide a means of income and a future for the communities where the trees are planted. New restaurants are partnering with Carbon Free Dining every day and the initiative is already on target to plant 1,000,000 trees in 2020.
