Michael Vargosko

Michael Vargosko brings over 25 years of international experience in hospitality technology, enterprise software, product management and business development to interTouch.

In his role as Managing Director for Europe, the Middle East, Africa, India, Latin America and the Caribbean, Michael is responsible for the market strategy, business development and operations across the company’s 11 offices in these regions. Prior to joining interTouch in May 2019, he was the Head of Global Sales at sister company Angie Hospitality, a leading provider of contactless technology for hotels. Previous to that he served as Managing Director, Europe, Middle East & Africa at Guest-Tek.

Michael, who holds a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from the Carlson School of Management at the University of Minnesota and the Vienna University of Economic and Business, started his career in the United States as an international project manager at Hotel Information Systems and subsequently held senior roles in account management, product management and business development at leading information technology companies including CAIS Internet, iBAHN and GuestTek Interactive Entertainment. Based in Warsaw, Michael holds dual citizenship in both Poland and the United States of America.

The hospitality industry was starting to embrace contactless technologies before COVID-19, if anything, the pandemic has accelerated the roll-out and acceptance of these technologies.

I believe the current global pandemic is the ideal time for a restart in hospitality technology, but the reality is that the investment climate is not great right now. Feasibly, we are looking at a hybrid between a complete reset and a continued Lego approach, but an important question remains: who's paying for it?Hospitality is often seen as a laggard when it comes to the investment and adoption of new technologies compared to other industries, and I would love for this to change.

Are robots coming to a hotel near you?

I don't see robots replacing humans in hotels anytime soon, but with the advances in AI I do expect to see more specific hospitality applications. Robots have been largely seen as a gimmick in hotels, but I see some very practical uses that will make our industry even more human.
