Equinox Hotels, the category-defining leader in luxury high-performance hospitality, today announced the appointment of Axel Gasser as President of the hospitality brand. The appointment comes as Equinox Hotels accelerates a growing global pipeline, with upcoming properties in Amaala, Anguilla, Abu Dhabi, and additional urban and resort destinations worldwide to be announced.
Gasser brings more than 25 years of hospitality experience, with a track record spanning turnarounds, greenfield openings, and multi-property portfolio growth across four continents. Most recently, at Ennismore, as Executive Vice President, he built the operational foundation for the company's fastest-growing region, expanding LATAM and the Caribbean from two properties to 22 and a $600 million topline, backed by a multi-year pipeline of deals. He went on to restructure a 1,300-person organization as Vice President of SLS Baha Mar, where he also launched a flagship beach club and delivered double the budgeted gross operating profit (GOP) in under a year. As Opening General Manager of Mondrian Doha, he established an ultra-luxury flagship property in one of the world's most competitive markets, earning major international awards and hosting landmark global productions.
Throughout his career, Gasser has grown multi-property operations that generate over $800 million in annual revenue and has partnered with ownership groups on complex asset strategies. He is fluent in German, English, Spanish, and Italian.
