Sleeper Magazine reacquired the awards from UBM in 2013, taking over the sales,

marketing and operation of the event, in addition to managing the rigorous judging process, which has been developed to ensure a rigorous, robust and balanced procedure is followed.

The judging panel features representatives from the world’s leading hotel groups,

architectural practices and interior design firms to ensure a range of views are involved in the selection process for the finalists and winners in each category. This year, the panel is to be chaired by Celia Geyer, Senior Director Architecture & Design, Global Design Services – Europe, Hilton Worldwide.

The call for entries will be announced in April, for hotel projects completed between June

2013 and May 2014. A six-month judging process, which involves judge visits to each of the shortlisted hotels, will then identify the winning projects to be announced at a glittering awards ceremony at Park Plaza Westminster Bridge, London, on 25 November 2014.

The criteria for success is based not only on creative excellence, but also on commercial

viability. As well as projects that are aesthetically impressive, the judges will be looking for evidence that winning designs have also met the needs of client and customers alike.

Previous winners include The Alpina Gstaad, Switzerland, by The Gallery HBA London,

Superbude St. Pauli, Germany, by Dreimeta, and The Savoy, London, by ReardonSmith Architects.
