2019 looks like it will be another record year in Australia and New Zealand, with hotels and alternative forms of guest accommodation continuing to be built, purchased, branded, and managed. Sentiment remains positive, but as the volume of new and proposed room supply continues to grow, and uncertainties mount about the impact of external factors such as the changing political landscape in the USA, Great Britain, and Europe, questions remain about the likely duration and extent of the local industry upcycle. The fundamental question therefore remains: are these the best of times for the local accommodation industry, or are our best days still ahead of us?
