Group pledges best 300 Bedrooms in Capital

London, March 20, 1996 - Following major investment in London's Mount Royal Hotel, Thistle Hotels Plc pledges that there are no other hotels in the capital with 300 larger, more qualitative and better equipped rooms than the deluxe bedrooms and bathrooms at the Mount Royal. The 15 million pound refurbishment programme at the 690-bedroom hotel has totally transformed the former Mount Charlotte hotel on Oxford Street resulting in its relaunch today as the 50th Thistle hotel. This forms part of Thistle Hotels Plc's strategy of upgrading and transferring its four star Mount Charlotte properties to the rapidly expanding Thistle portfolio.

The Mount Royal Hotel, recently awarded four stars from both the AA and the RAC, now has 303 deluxe spacious bedrooms, all with individually controlled air conditioning, trouser presses, ironing boards and irons, power showers, fax and computer points, as well as remote control color television with satellite channels, radio, direct dial telephone, and tea and coffee making facilities which feature in all bedrooms. In addition, 24 hour room service has recently been introduced and voice mail will be shortly installed in all bedrooms.

The extensive upgrading programme at The Mount Royal is part of Thistle Hotels Plc'c largest ever renovation project in its London properties costing over 50 million pounds over two years. With 24 hotels and 6,570 bedrooms in London, Thistle and Mount Charlotte Hotels is the capital's premier hotel group and has substantially more Automobile Association four star properties than any other company in the UK.
