"Click-it! Weekends captures the beauty of the Web," said Pegasus Systems, Inc. CEO John F. Davis III. "It's real-time and extremely flexible, enabling consumers to take advantage of last-minute deals for the coming weekend. With Click-it! Weekends, hotels can take advantage of net-based dynamic pricing and quickly respond to the ups and downs of consumer demand by posting their last-minute vacancies."
Frank Camacho, Senior Vice President, Director of Marketing & Operations Staff, ITT Sheraton North America Division said, "Click-it! Weekends allows us to offer attractive prices at selected hotels in varying locations, for the coming weekend, to people who can decide quickly where they want to go for a weekend getaway, and who have access to the World Wide Web. This lets us reward the loyal Sheraton customer who stays informed about Sheraton through the Internet with some outstanding values."
Thomas F. O'Toole, Vice President of Marketing, Hyatt Hotels Corporation, added, "Both the customer and the hotel benefit when we can quickly decide to deliver a dramatically appealing price for a hotel room on a weekend when it might otherwise have been empty. We have committed to make the prices low so that customers will visit Click-it! Weekends frequently, and we have varied the locations of our hotels to provide the variety that travelers typically prefer for weekend getaways."
Davis added, " It's a 'win-win' situation. Travelers who can plan a trip with a couple days' notice can find new opportunities every week throughout the year by making the booking themselves in this special section of TravelWeb."
The Click-it! Weekends logo is flagged on TravelWeb's home page, ensuring visibility. The rates and hotels listed on Click-it! Weekends are posted on TravelWeb beginning every Monday and are exclusively applicable for the following weekend. Travelers who visit the site will also have the option to request a weekly email update from TravelWeb with the current listing of the Click-it! Weekends hotels and rates.
TravelWeb launched its hotel reservations capability nearly a year ago and has quickly become one of the Internet's leading on-line travel reservations and information systems. TravelWeb's on-line sales attest to its growing popularity. Since the beginning of 1996, the site has processed more than $3.5 million in hotel room sales. In August, TravelWeb added airline reservations and will add car rental reservations in 1997. "TravelWeb is becoming the perfect Web site for the 'book-it-yourself traveler' to go to when they need 'one-stop' travel reservations," Pegasus CEO Davis said.
"The advantage TravelWeb brings to cyber travelers can be simply put: It's simple. Users can zip through the system and book a flight or hotel room in minutes if need be. It's quick, it's fast, it's real-time and it's accurate. Since it can only be accessed using a secure browser such as Netscape Navigator or Microsoft Internet Explorer, it's safe. Users can transmit their credit card numbers with confidence,"
Davis said.
Designed to expand in 1997, "Click It! Weekends" will be open to any hotel company next year, offering cyber travelers an even broader selection of hotels.
