Host Marriott Names W. Edward Walter As New Chief Financial Officer

BETHESDA, Md., Host Marriott Corporation HMT announced today that W. Edward Walter, its current chief operating officer, has become chief financial officer of the Company. Mr. Walter, who served as treasurer prior to being appointed chief operating officer, has overseen Host Marriott's treasury and capital market activities for the last five years and also supervised its asset management activities since January, 2000.

Robert E. Parsons, Jr., who has been with the Company and its predecessor, Marriott Corporation since 1981, and has acted as chief financial officer since 1995, will be leaving the company in the second quarter to pursue other opportunities. In the interim, he will serve as the executive vice president, special projects continuing to report to our Chief Executive Officer, Christopher J. Nassetta.

Mr. Nassetta stated, "Although difficult, these changes are part of our ongoing effort to streamline our organizational structure while continuing to field an industry leading management team. We appreciate the valuable contributions Mr. Parsons has made during his long tenure with the Company."
