Columbia, MD | MICROS Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ:MCRS), a leading provider of information technology solutions for the hospitality industry, and Grupo Alquimia D.S.C., Mexico's environmentally conscious parent company of theme parks, announce the immediate implementation of the MICROS 9700 hospitality management system (HMS) in its three eco-tourism parks: Xel-Ha, Xcaret , Garrafon and Cañón del Sumidero. The solution integrates 85 MICROS Workstations, 12 wireless devices, scanners, three servers, and POS printers with MICROS's enterprise software and MICROS Materials Control, an advanced food and beverage inventory system.
As with the dream of alchemy (for which it is named), Grupo Alquimia converts the exquisite wild terrain of Mexico's coastal Quintana Roo region into high-value experiences for its guests, at the same time protecting the environment. Xel-Ha is renowned for its various conservation programs, including the release of 20,000 sea turtles annually and the pink-shell "Strombus Gigas" preservation, while Garrafon focuses on protecting the area's natural reefs, and Xcaret effectively combines environmental and leisure adventures.
The parks offer restaurants, stores, sporting equipment rental and various other facilities. MICROS 9700 HMS will enable Grupo Alquimia to manage its food and beverage operation better, while the MICROS Materials Control module will allow them to better control costs, manage recipes, and purchase and centralize inventory effectively. MICROS-Fidelio Mexico offered strong local support and service and provided all integration and training, even customizing the point of sale to read a barcode bracelet that identified each park customer.
"We were looking for a total solution and a strong supplier," said Sergio Beltran, Grupo Alquimia's Director of Information Systems. "We wanted a company that could provide not only state-of-the-art products, but also one with direct local presence and support. The flexibility of both MICROS 9700 and Materials Control will empower Grupo Alquimia with a better F&B operation and superior guest service."
"The MICROS 9700 has proved to be a stable and versatile solution for the leisure and entertainment market in Mexico," says Bernard Jammet, Executive Vice President for Latin America. "Its scalability, advanced systems capabilities and industry prevalence is appealing to an enterprise like Grupo Alquimia which relies heavily on a total hospitality management solution to asure quality customer service."
