M venpick Hotels & Resorts signs new management contract to take over a resort in Aswan, Egypt
Mövenpick Hotels & Resorts (MH&R) announced the signing of an agreement with the owner, EGOTH (The Egyptian General Organization of Tourism & Hotels), to operate the former Aswan Oberoi. The resort will be renamed "The Elephantine Island Resort Aswan" operated by Mövenpick.
With 244 guest rooms and villas with full amenities overlooking the Nile facing the Aswan Botanical Gardens and situated in a prime location on the beautiful island, the contract is a further coup for MH&R in their growth plans in the region. “This is our first property in Aswan and it is right in line with our strategic growth plans for the region. We now have a total of ten hotels and two Nile cruisers operating in Egypt including the El Alamein Resort & Spa which will open mid July.” stated Andreas Mattmüller, Senior Vice-President, Middle East MH&R.
The resort will feature four restaurants with the usual very high standards of Mövenpick gastronomy. An all day dining outlet seating 250 guests, an Italian restaurant with 100 seats, a French restaurant with space for 60 and a pool bar and restaurant seating 50. Conference rooms with a capacity of up to 150 people make the property suitable for business conferences and special occasions.
The resort offers two solar heated swimming pools located in beautiful and lush garden surroundings, tennis courts and many other leisure activity opportunities. The spa facility is a focal point of the hotel containing a gymnasium with state-of-the-art equipment, a chilled water pool, Finnish sauna, steam bath and individual whirlpools in both the ladies and men’s sections of the spa.
Jean Gabriel Pérès, President & CEO of MH&R, further stated: "Mövenpick Hotels & Resorts is committed to expanding its presence in Egypt with quality city hotels and resorts. We are very happy to be in Aswan".
