Hilton International Statement: Indonesia

London... The growing interest and media coverage regarding the risk of terrorist attacks in Indonesia has incorrectly linked the story to the Hilton International brand of hotels.

Hilton International has no management, franchise or operational responsibility for any of the 'Hilton' branded properties in Indonesia, including 'Hilton' Jakarta.

Hilton International has been involved in a longstanding dispute with the owners of these properties over the use of the Hilton name. Both parties are attempting to negotiate an amicable resolution to this dispute.

The Hilton International chain, which operates globally, takes its responsibilities for the security of its customers and team members very seriously. Hilton International refutes any suggestion to the contrary.

Clearly we cannot be held accountable for hotels that we do not have any management involvement in or responsibility for. However in respect of all of our hotels, safety is of paramount importance and all security activity is addressed in conjunction with the appropriate authorities.

• Hilton International (HI), an operating division of the UK based Hilton Group plc, owns the rights to the Hilton brand name throughout the world, with the exception of the USA where the Hilton brand is owned and managed by Hilton Hotels Corporation (HHC).
• HI operates 405 hotels, with 263 branded Hilton, 47 of which come under the Hilton Worldwide Resorts brand, plus 142 under the mid-market Scandic brand.
• Under a joint venture agreement, Hilton International and HHC share responsibility for the Conrad brand, which includes 17 luxury hotels in 12 countries. A global marketing alliance between Hilton International and Hilton Hotels Corporation extends the number of hotels operated by both companies worldwide to over 2,700 over 500 of which are branded Hilton.
• Hilton International employs over 70,000 staff in 78 countries.
