PARSIPPANY, N.J. | The Pennsylvania State University’s School of Hospitality Management recently appointed Paul Manley, Cendant Hotel Group director of loyalty marketing, to its Technology Advisory Board.

The 30-member volunteer board advises the School of Hospitality Management on its curriculum and systems.

In his role at Cendant, Manley is responsible for integrating new features into the TripRewards® program, the world’s largest lodging loyalty program based on number of properties with more than 6,000 participating hotels, points-earning opportunities with more than 40 earning participants and more than 250 point-redemption options.

Prior to joining Cendant in 2002, Manley served Ernst & Young in New York as hospitality technology practice leader, directing consulting projects for Carnival Cruise Lines® and Walt Disney World®. From 1994 to 1996, he was vice president of operations for MCorp, a hotel systems provider in Edison, N.J.

From 1991 to 1993, Manley was the vice president of operations for Hotel Information Systems Ltd. in Staines, England, where he was responsible for implementing and supporting hotel property management systems throughout Africa, Europe and the Middle East.

While there, Manley was also responsible for establishing world-class customer service processes. His efforts were recognized by the International Standards Organization (ISO), which certifies service and manufacturing processes that meet the highest standards of performance. Hotel Information Systems Ltd. was the first company in the hotel systems industry to receive an ISO 9002 status.

From 1980 to 1988, Manley was senior director of central reservations systems and property technology for Red Lions Hotels in Vancouver, Wash. From 1980 to 1988, he was responsible for worldwide property systems operations for Hilton International, then headquartered in New York City.

From 1977 to 1979, Manley was installation, training and support manager for Electronic Engineering of California in Santa Ana, Calif. From 1975 to 1976, he was hotel systems manager for Intercontinental Hotels Company, based in New York City.

He began his career in 1973 at the Innisbrook Resort in Tarpon Springs, Fla. as systems manager and front office operations manager.

Manley serves on the board of the Hospitality Information Technology Association and he has lectured at Cornell University, Ithaca, N.Y., Florida State University, Tallahassee, Fla., and University of Nevada, Las Vegas, among others.
